2020 CACTE CareerTech VIRTUAL Summit

If you are registered for the Virtual Summit, make sure you have the most current version of Zoom ready to go and the HelloCrowd mobile app downloaded. 🙂 The first Summit News Flash went out on Thursday morning, July 9. Expect the second Summit News Flash Friday morning 7/17 and the last Summit News Flash on Monday 7/20…… 🙂

If at any time during the Summit, you have technical issues, please contact 720.541.8097 via text or call. Jen Girvin and Katy Blatnick-Gagne are providing tech support – they have experience from doing Iowa HOSA virtually – yay! Your executive director is ever so grateful to these two tech savvy professionals! ❤️

The Monday morning 7/20 Technology Check-in is a time to make sure that you are ready to go for Tuesday morning! If everything works for you, it will be brief. It is NOT mandatory. We encourage you to check in during the following times by last name.

  • A-G between 9:00-10:00 am
  • H-O between 10:00-11:00 am
  • P-Z between 11:00 am-12:00 pm
  • checking in at any time between 9:00 am-12:00 pm is fine if this time doesn’t work for you 😉

Please take time to read THIS DOCUMENT – lots of things to consider as you prepare to participate in the 2020 CACTE CareerTech Virtual Summit!

2020 CACTE CareerTech VIRTUAL Summit Schedule

Click here for complete schedule, breakout session descriptions, list of exhibitors and more! You will receive information closer to the Summit about where the Zoom links will be located.

1) Please complete the evaluation for the CACTE Virtual Summit. This is especially important this year with the virtual component. The link is in the mobile app and it will be in the After Conference Email. Everyone completing the evaluation by Friday 7/31 at midnight will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card. 🙂
2) The certificate of attendance will be attached. It will look different because of the access to the entire event on CO CTE Learn – it is 4 pages long. Please be honest when checking which sessions you attended/watched to calculate your total PD hours for the Summit. Thanks to AAFCS for the idea of how to accommodate watching additional sessions after the live event.
3) Hopefully the code for CO CTE Learn conference access will be ready for this email – if not, it will come in a separate email. As a paid attendee, you have access to the conference recordings through Halloween.

Tues Afternoon 7/21 CCCS Office Hours 1-4 pm

  • CTSO HANGOUT: Stop by to get all your questions about CTSOs answered! Learn about cool things we are working on for this fall and interact with state officers from some of the groups. All of the CTSO State Leaders will be available during this session.
  • Perkins Questions Answered by Appointment: Victoria Crownover’s annual CACTE lemonade stand has gone virtual, too!  If you have an individual question or topic you would like to discuss, particularly as it relates to Perkins, you are invited to sign up for a time to join Victoria on Tuesday afternoon in a separate conference room, then jump back to other scheduled programming.  There are a limited number of slots available, so if it doesn’t work out, please check out the FAQs page on the Colorado CTE team’s website (http://coloradostateplan.com/administrator/coloradocte-com-faq/) to find a wealth of information including other options to connect with Victoria during virtual office hours.  Just know that other folks may be “hanging out” listening to Victoria’s answers in order to learn more about Perkins.  CLICK HERE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT on 7/21 w/ VICTORIA!
  • CTA Questions Answered by Appointment: If you have questions regarding the Career and Technical Act – Jacqui Geiselman is here for you! Since we are at the beginning of the reporting process, Jacqui is happy to discuss reporting questions, allowable costs, clarifying questions, or anything else regarding CTA. Time slots are limited, so please only sign up if you have specific questions, but as always Jacqui is here for you any time, just reach out. Know that other folks may be “hanging out” listening to Jacqui’s answers in order to learn more about CTA. CLICK HERE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT on 7/21 w/ JACQUI!

Because of the COVID-19 situation, the CACTE Executive Committee made the decision to move to a Virtual Conference for 2020.  We encourage your attendance to hear the latest news from Dr. Sarah Heath, CO CTE Director, your Program Directors/CTSO State Leaders and CACTE. Join us online July 21-22 for the first ever CACTE CareerTech VIRTUAL Summit!

We look forward to holding a face-to-face Summit in Grand Junction in July, 2024, as well as the 2021 Summit in Loveland.

FAQs About CTE in CO and WBL Credentialing Sessions

  • Neither CTE in CO nor WBL Credentialing are part of the CACTE Virtual Summit this year only. Due to the shortened schedule, there is not time to include them. Please see www.coloradostateplan.com for details about registering for the online version of CTE in Colorado for this summer or fall. Stay tuned to www.coloradostateplan.com for details about the WBL Credentialing Session.
  • If you were registered for the all day “CTE in CO” Credentialing session, you already have been contacted by Sara Butler from CCCS about your options.
    • If you prefer to do one of the free online sessions this spring or summer, you will be guaranteed entry into the class. The first online session begins Monday, May 11 – notify Sara Butler immediately of your interest in that session! (sara.butler@cccs.edu). The second online session begins July 20 – be sure Sara Butler knows if you want to sign up for that session.
    • If you prefer face-to-face learning and have time left on your initial credential, you can wait for the 2021 CACTE CareerTech Summit in Loveland.  Just like this year, you’ll need to register early to get into the credentialing session for 2021 – your 2020 Summit registration does NOT roll over to 2021.

If you were registered for the half day Work-Based Learning Credentialing session, you will be contacted by the instructor, Emily Sherwood, about your options. A WBL online session is being developed and you will be guaranteed entry into the class if you desire.
