New CACTE Executive Director

Welcome to the new CACTE Executive Director- Debbie Nelson
djn-pic-4-2015   Debbie Nelson is a “not-really-retired” career & technical education teacher (family & consumer sciences) with a passion for involvement.  She has been an active member of multiple professional associations since her college days at Colorado State, including ACTE/CACTE.  Debbie served on many committees and held officer positions in a variety of those groups at the local, state, national and international levels, including three terms on the National Board of Directors for the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences.  It was truly an honor for her to be named to the CACTE Hall of Fame this past summer.
In addition to twenty-eight years in the middle and high school classroom, Debbie spent two years working in the Jeffco Career & Technical Education office, supporting CTE teachers in all content areas and guiding their work on curriculum.  She enjoyed the opportunity to judge at many of the CTSO state conferences during that time.  Even after retiring from teaching, Debbie supported FCCLA members by serving as District Consultant for three years.
When she’s not off gallivanting around the globe to attend conferences, Debbie plays clarinet in the Denver Concert Band, enjoys scrapbooking her adventures, spending time with family and friends, and learning new things.
We look forward to working with Debbie to advance CTE in Colorado.
