Lauren Jones Named 2012 School Counseling Advocate of the Year


VAIL – On November 9, at the 52nd Annual Colorado School Counselor Association (CSCA) Annual Conference in Vail, CCCS CTE-Career Guidance Specialist and Trainer Lauren Jones was named the 2012 School Counseling Advocate of the Year. CSCA honored Jones for her exceptional support of Colorado’s School Counseling profession. Center High School Counselor Katrina Ruggles started the extensive nomination process for Jones to be selected for the award. CCDA Fall Conference – Present! Listen! Connect! Learn!

As the career landscape changes, manyprofessionals are finding themselves more involved in helping students, job seekers, employees, and community members determine next steps in their career or find a job. If you are one of these professionals, you find yourself asking . . . “Am I providing the right advice? What are the best ways to help?”

The Colorado Career Development Association is a place where career-industry professionals like you from all different types of organizations gather to learn and share best practices to improve their confidence and skill in dealing with these issues. The CCDA has a few upcoming events and opportunities that may be of interest to you:

Fall Conference: Each year, the CCDA holds a fall conference which allows local professionals to share their best practices with each other. This year the event, entitled “Got Assessment? Now What?,” will focus on applications of all types of assessments. The conference will be held November 2, 2012 at the Plaza Hotel in Longmont, Colorado. For more information or to register:

Networking Event: If you are looking for a less formal way to connect with other career professionals, consider joining us for Coffee, Cabernet, and Connections.
