Information and Application Procedures
Part I
The Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education Awards Program recognizes individuals, organizations, businesses and/or agencies who have made contributions to the field and conducted activities which help to promote and expand career-technical-vocational education Colorado.
Nominations are accepted annually in the following categories:
- Merit Award to a Friend
- Merit Award to an Educator
- Merit Award to Communications/Media Agency or Representative
- Merit Award to an Advisory Committee or Advisory Committee Member
Part II
Listed below is the award category, description and required documentation for each award.
Merit Award to a Friend
The Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education Merit Award to a Friend is presented to an individual or agency outside the field of education that has contributed outstanding service and dedication in the promotion of career-technical-vocational education in Colorado and support to the Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education and/or its affiliates.
Nomination information should include:
- A summary of career or agency highlights, including relationship to the career-technical-vocational education field.
- Specific achievements or outstanding services to the Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education.
- Nominee's contributions and achievements that have advanced or supported career-technical-vocational education.
- Why you feel this person or agency should be given this award.
Merit Award to an Educator
The Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education Merit Award to an Educator is presented to an educator who is serving in an educational capacity which is directly or indirectly associated with career-technical-vocational education (excluding vocational educators), and who has demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to career-technical-vocational education in Colorado.
Nomination information should include:
- Summary of career highlights, including relationship to the career-technical-vocational education field.
- Nominee's contributions and achievements that have advanced or supported career-technical-vocational education.
- Specific achievements or outstanding services to the Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education.
- Why you feel this person should receive this award.
Merit Award Communications/Media Representative
The Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education Merit Award to a Communications/Media Representative is presented to an individual or agency outside the field of education that contributed outstanding service and dedication in the promotion of career-technical-vocational education in Colorado and/or supported the Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education.
Nomination information should include:
- Summary of career or agency highlights, including relationship to career-technical-vocational education.
- Nominee's contributions and achievements that have advanced or supported career-technical-vocational education.
- Why you feel this person should receive this award.
Merit Award to an Advisory Committee or Advisory Committee Member
The Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education Merit Award to an Advisory Committee or Advisory Committee Member Representative is presented to an individual or committee that contributed outstanding service and dedication in the promotion of career-technical-vocational education in Colorado and/or supported the Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education.
Nomination information should include:
- Summary of individual or committee highlights, including relationship to career-technical-vocational education.
- Nominee's contributions and achievements that have advanced or supported career-technical-vocational education.
- Why you feel this person or committee should receive this award.
Part III Application Procedures
The following procedures are to be used for all Merit Awards:
- Application must consist of the Nomination Cover Form and a maximum of four additional pages addressing nomination information.
- Letters of support, limited to a maximum of seven, should be included. These support letters should come from the applicant's immediate superior an administrator, a current or former student or employee, a parent or community leader, and two additional sources.
- No more than five pages of additional documentation may be included (i.e., newspaper articles, pictures, etc.).
- A current photograph, color or black and white MUST be included.
- Total nomination packet shall not exceed 20 pages, including the Nomination Cover Form page.
