Colorado ACTE Announces Ed Watterson as ExecutiveDirector

The Colorado ACTE Executive Committee is proud to announce Ed Watterson as the new Executive Director of the Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education (CACTE).

Ed brings more than three decades of experience in education, including more than 20 years dedicated to Career and Technical Education (CTE). During his 33
years in the classroom, he served as an engineering, multimedia, and business teacher, giving him a deep, firsthand understanding of the needs of educators and students.
Throughout his career, Ed has contributed to Colorado’s CTE and STEM landscape
across secondary and community college systems. His experience includes CTE
curriculum design, policy implementation, workforce development, program
management, and organizational leadership.
A passionate advocate for workforce development and student success, Ed is
excited to bring his experience, relationships, and knowledge of Colorado CTE to
CACTE. As Executive Director, he looks forward to advancing the association’s
strategic initiatives and policy priorities, supporting its continued organizational
growth, and strengthening opportunities for CTE educators and students across
Colorado.
Recently retired after a distinguished career in education, Ed sees this position as an
exciting opportunity to continue serving the CTE community in a new capacity. He is
eager to champion innovative programs, strengthen connections throughout
Colorado, and help build a strong foundation for the future of Career and Technical
Education.
Ed will participate in training and transition activities from late October through
December 2026 and will officially assume the duties and responsibilities of CACTE
Executive Director in January 2027. The CACTE Executive Committee is excited to welcome Ed to this leadership role and looks forward to this next chapter for the association.
